Secure Your Printers

Security Management		PrintChef's security system allows a system manager to set up a job list, group or division list, and a user list, and then to assign users to divisions to jobs. At print-time, each user will then enter their password so that they can print. But PrintChef does security smartly, by allowing the system manager to identify only those printers that require security. This means that a user will not have to secure printing to their desktop printer, but that secured printing will occur for the high-end expensive 4-color printer or imagesetter. No more accidental prints that use up valuable resources.
User Control		PrintChef's security system allows you to define users. Each user can belong to one or more groups (or divisions). In addition, you can tag a user so that the user can print to any printer (without security). Each user can define their own password, so you can be sure that no one is illegally using your account.
Group Control		PrintChef's security system allows you to define groups or divisions. Each group can control one or more jobs. In addition, you can tag a group of users so that every user in the group can print to any printer (with or without security).
Job Control		PrintChef's security system allows you to define jobs. Each job number specifies a specific task. This job number can then be referenced at print-time and is associated through a group to a specific user.
Printer Control		PrintChef's security system allows you to define which printers are not secured. A secured printer is one that requires a password before a user can print. An unsecured printer, like your desktop HP Printer, is one that the security system will ignore.
Summary		PrintChef security has controls for users, groups, jobs, and printers. Users belong to groups, groups can print jobs, and printers can be secured so that they require a password before a print can be submitted. MIS managers will save on printer resources and avoid having users accidently print to that expensive color copier or imagesetter without authorization.
