PrintChef for Windows XP

The Windows XP version of the PrintChef print-time engine will be accessible from MindGate's web site on October 29, 2001 for international use. It is a single installer system which is compatible with 95/98/Me and ( non-Terminal Server) environments NT4, 2K, and XP.

While PrintChef (trial version) will be shipped in the box with Print-to-Mail devices, it will also be generally available to the public by direct sale at $30 through the MindGate shopping cart system.

PrintChef is designed to be compatible with the output of all applications and all printers, on all Windows operating systems, without exception.

PrintChef is a printing tool that comes equipped with capabilities not found even in advanced drawing environments, like an active print queue, previewing system, data doorway, recipe design tool, and page size design tool. With PrintChef the ordinary user can fulfill the promise of printing the way that they want even if the application printing cannot.

During the first quarter of 2002, MindGate will release 7 different recipe packs and plugins. These will handle variable data printing (popular on our Mac version since 1992), watermarks, bar codes, electronic signatures, imposition, data remapping, and let you create a host of your special effects printing just by designing your own recipes. MindGate expects to release 14 additional plug-ins, along with developing custom plug-ins for special customers, including those wanting to do check-to-mail printing that includes MICR codes and signatures.

Version 3.0 for the Macintosh has been delayed until the first quarter of 2002. With the stability of OS X, MindGate expects to release an OS X version early in 2002. Existing customers can continue to gain their favorite printing effects, since the current version of PrintChef for Mac is compatible through OS 9.

MindGate also expects the Mac version to be available for the Print-to-Mail system and Stamps.com when they become available in that environment.
